Blog Post: Sun, Sand, and Spare Change – A Treasure Hunt to Remember
Some of the best discoveries don’t come from what’s found—but from who you’re with when you find it.
This week, a young metal detectorist spent a sunny afternoon exploring with his visiting grandparents, combing the grounds near an old shoreline property. The site once held a bustling boat dock, active from the 1880s through the 1920s, but now all that remains are weathered pilings and whispers of the past.

Armed with curiosity and a detector, the trio uncovered two quarters, a dime, three pennies—and surprisingly, a Euro! While none of it would make the cover of Treasure Weekly, each find sparked excitement and questions. Who dropped the Euro? When? What else might be buried underfoot?

Even more valuable than the coins was the shared experience. The joy of discovery, the laughter between generations, and the connection to a place layered with history made the outing feel like something much more than a simple hunt.
The property owner, charmed by the visit, invited them back for future explorations—perhaps next time they'll uncover something from the dock’s heyday, a true relic of the region’s maritime past.

But even if they don’t, one thing’s certain: the memory of that day, the sun on their backs, and the thrill of the hunt together will be a treasure remembered for a lifetime. 💛
